6 Years and Counting

Pipe Weekend Anniversary

October eleventh, two thousand and fourteen marked the hubby and my six year wedding anniversary. Six years married, eight years together, roughly one fourth of my life. In fact, that doesn't even sum up our time together because we dated when we were just babies (thirteen and fourteen). So we remember each other when we were at our most awkward.

It seems that these days you can't open up Facebook without a some form of Buzzfeed/Huffington Post/Psychology Today article telling you how millennials are getting married later in life, or don't have any interest in marriage or divorce quickly, or yada yada yada. All very interesting, but I'm very happy I got married young because I wouldn't trade my husband for anything. I'm sure you are wondering what on earth any of this has to do with pipes.

Pipe Weekend Anniversary
This year for our six year wedding anniversary my husband took me to a pipe show. He didn't really plan it that way, it just happened to be the weekend the pipe show was. He is a fairly new pipe maker (you can check him out here) and this was his first show. Many nights with small amounts of sleep, and many days full of lots of anxiety for the unknown, led up to that weekend- which is why he looks soo exhausted in this photo. He worked hard in preparation for that weekend, In fact we both did- him making pipes and me sewing pipe bags and designing and ordering business cards and the likes.

This wasn't our first time staying up late to get things done, there were countless nights in the past eight years where we worked hard as a team to get things done- and many other nights where Brendon stayed up way past his bedtime in solidarity while I crunched to make a deadline. We have always done our best to wake up at the same time and go to bed at the same time. We have always done our best to do things together.

Marriage is hard at any age (or so I would imagine since I've only ever personally experienced it at this age) it's not always fun and it's a lot of work. But I love having a partner, I love that we always tackle things together. Through long hours of studying for college classes, late nights up with a fussy baby, financial restraints, new jobs, lost jobs, and life decisions. I'm grateful for my Husband, I'm grateful for my partner, I'm grateful for the father of my wild little munchkin because she takes a village some days.

Pipe Weekend Anniversary
And in case you were wondering, I didn't spend my whole weekend at the pipe show. I spent some time shopping, and reading, and enjoying the quiet- which was the best part because life is anything but quiet when you have a three year old.

Lately. . .

Being a wife, and a mother means I wear many hats. I'm a master  cook, tailor, nurse, a counselor, educator, navigator, human waste removel officer, the list goes on and on. I am also a barber.

The hubby is trying growing his beard out. He has been growing it for months, working on it being mammoth- like the guy from Lord of the Rings. Actually, I'm not totally sure how long he is trying to get  it. I do know that it's been close to an obsession around here. He conditions it, and made super nice oil for it, he primps it in the mirror. . .Now don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on his beard and I appreciate that he takes care of it, last time he grew it out he just did it mountain man style,  I'm just sharing with you how life has been- I like a man with a beard.

So anyway, Brendon has been growing his beard and he is really happy with how the length is coming along (the beard oil really really helps) but the other day he came to a conclusion. The way we trimmed it in the beginning was causing it to be thinner than it should be, and that we should trim it down so he can start again. This was a sad moment for my husband, he debated for days (well a day because if you know him you know that he never debates anything for days) and then Tuesday we gave it a trim.

The Giant Pink Ball

I love kids, or at least I love mine I don't really have any experience with any other kid besides my own. One of the most fascinating things about my kid is that despite all of the crazy cool complicated toys she is happiest in the yard with her giant pink ball. Best $3 we have ever spent. This first set of photos is from Friday.

On Sunday we were back out in the yard- this time bundled up for the intense cold.

We brought a friend- we call him Mr. Fox (I know, creative right?). It's a lot of fun now that Cordelia gives kisses to everyone and everything that holds still. She kisses stuffed animals, people, cats, everything. It makes me so happy when I get kisses without being asked for them, and she always seems to know when I am feeling down because that's when I get the most of them.

I guess that's what Daddy's pants are for.

Lavender Dots

one

On Sunday, Brendon and I went to see our friend's daughter in her school play.  She was amazing, I was so impressed! I have been craving spring lately, I'm tired of layering for warmth, and I'm tired of it being so gray and everything looking so glum, it kinda depresses me. When I'm feeling blah I really like to make an effort to dress super girly. Do you all have a go too look when you are feeling down?

Brendon looked so nice I just had to feature him in this outfit post as well. I love when he dresses up. He was also rocking some beautiful vintage suspenders but we didn't get a good photo of them- oh well, maybe next time. Have a happy Thursday, guys!
