February Revisited

February, you were a rough month, full of ups and downs. We celebrated many snow days full of valentine's  crafts, play dates with friends, snuggles, snow men, and movie time. I'm am proud of a lot of the cleaning and organizing I got done this month- I'm mostly caught up with laundry and you can actually walk into my closet! I'm trying to make our tiny home a little more functional and livable which means making the best of our space and getting rid of a lot of stuff- I donated six bags of clothing! I also tackled a HUGE basement organization project that I'm pretty proud of. I won a super cool camera strap from Corey over at Domestic 360, and on another awesome note- I had my first Etsy sale! We also had a lot of parenting ups- Cordelia is able to express herself even more with each days- there are very few days that she can't explain to me exactly what she wants and I love hearing her tell stories about her day and the things she has done. I have had a lot of teary eyed mommy moments because she seems like such a big kid! Question- what do you call a toddler that isn't a toddler anymore? It sounds silly but kid isn't descriptive enough of her age and smallness!

So there were a lot of good moments but there are a lot of things I wish had gone differently.
I wish I had done more to add to my Etsy store, I spent so much time cleaning that I neglected my sewing and creating. This seems to be the winter that never ends and because of it I think I have had a cold for all of February- and being cold and sick is hard on my spirits. There are also challenges with parenting a ever growing kid. Between sicknesses and growing she can be a major grump and now she has the words to be outright rude. This past week especially she has been doing this growling and eye rolling thing (today she even told me to LEAVE HER ALONE) It's like having a teenager. . .

Overall, I'm pretty happy and I'm really excited to see what March brings (hopefully warmer weather)

Snow Day

So I don't have a ton of words and thoughts to share with these pictures today, so I'm just going to leave you with this. Cordelia loves snow and she was super excited to get so much of it- in fact the most snow she personally has ever seen!

Happy Valentine's Day

For the most part I really like holidays (well except for Christmas because it's stressful and expensive BUT that is for a different post). I love the silly hearts and arrows associated with Valentine's day and who doesn't love chocolate and flowers? So Valentines is pretty fun in my book. This year I got even more excited for Valentine's day, after I saw this heart and arrow themed fabric for 65% off (and I had a 20% off coupon. . .). So a dress had to be made.

It's a super lightweight cotton fabric from Joann Fabric. The bodice was cut with New Look pattern 6723- except I rounded the neck and lowered the back. The skirt is true circle skirt- with a slight gather on top, and pockets.

Brendon and I were going to have a date night tonight, but since we got massive amounts of snow I don't think it's going to happen. So last night I put my dress on, styled it the way I probably would have worn it today if we were going out and dragged the hubby into the snow to photograph it. I hope one day I get better pictures of the dress to show you more detail- however, I know me so I don't have high hopes! I do however, hope you are all having a wonderful Valentine's day!

Funny Face

So I guess I should preface this post- and these pictures- by saying that I do not think my daughter has a funny face. Rather, what I am referencing is the movie Funny Face, which is, by far, my favorite Audrey Hepburn film. In the movie Maggie Prescott tells Dick Avery that the women in her magazine must have "grace, elegance and pizazz" and Dick Avery tells her that every girl they have ever used in the magazine has had grace, elegance, and pizazz and "what's wrong with bringing out a girl who has character, spirit, and intelligence?"

I think Cordelia has a lot of pizazz, and I hope when she grows up she is both elegant and graceful (since neither are common attributes in two year olds). But most of all, in life, I wish her
character, spirit, and intelligence- and I'm happy to say that she has a pretty good start.

Anyways, thank you for making it through my rambling, I'm really writing today to show you some outtakes from the "photo shoots" Cordelia has been patient enough to sit for. She has been a total trooper letting me photograph her in various dresses for my etsy page! I couldn't be more grateful for this kid.

Every time take pictures I always end up with these cute photos of Miss C that really have nothing to do with the dress she is wearing. So instead of leaving them stored on my computer I thought I would share them with you.

Snowy Day

Let me get this off my chest- I love snow. Well, I love snow the way Maryland does snow because I enjoy snow days. I love the way snow looks, I enjoy playing in the snow, and I love drinking hot chocolate to warm up afterwards. I love the way everything stops and you can take a moment just to enjoy.

The other day I asked this munchkin what she dreamed about the night before- she told me she dreamed of a "snowy day". Lucky kid got one not to long after that. Actually, we have had more snow here this winter than in the past couple of years.

I'm happy that she loves snow as much as I do. As soon as the snow starts falling she is bursting with impatience, begging to go out and play.

and so we do, until our fingers go numb and we can't feel our noses.

P is for Pirate

SO, I've become kinda attached to No Big Dill's sew all 26, so I think you will be seeing a least a few more of these posts! Maybe I'll make it to the end with everyone else and then I'll go back and catch the letters I missed. (I'm working on letter N, but it's for me so it doesn't have top priory right now LOL) This week is P week over on the blog so I bring you "P is for Pirate".

This dress is actually for my Etsy store , which I finally have launched and I am now working quickly to stock it and fine tune. However, don't feel bad for Cordelia because she already has a pirate dress (you can see it here) and I have to start sewing things so I can continue to be a mostly stay at home mom AND keep Cordelia in her gymnastics classes!

I'm really happy with this dress (and it's hard to let it go). I kept the colors on the neutral side so it could be mixed and matched with other colors, but I couldn't resist adding cute little red buttons on the back.

The weather has been pretty wacky- we will have one day in the high 40s and the next day it will be snowing. We caught a warm day and so Missy was only too happy to get outside and "play movie star" and get her picture taken, and as always it was way too fun to photograph her.
